The effects of the financial crisis were not drastically felt in September for PCB makers in Germany
Strong incoming orders have somehow cushioned Germany’s printed circuit board (PCB) market amid global financial turmoil. Revenues for September 2008 were just slightly down compared to August and overall sales for the year were almost at the same level compared to the year-ago period, according to ZVEI and VdE.
The effects of the financial crisis were not drastically felt in September for PCB makers in Germany. The industry is somehow flexible against order shifts and cancellations, according to industry observers.
Incoming orders are affected by seasonal demand. Certain industries, meanwhile, give their orders as block reservations over a longer period of time. The effects on the individual enterprises are non-uniform and strong fluctuations can still be observed. Nevertheless, the cumulative incoming orders for the first three quarters of this year are almost at the same levels as the previous year.
The book-to-bill ratio for September was also strong, with the average conversion rate at around 1.06.
