PCB manufacturers see revenue rising in February
Most Taiwan-based PCB makers have projected that their revenues in February will be better than those recorded in January due to increases in rush orders and more working days this month. But some makers are still conservative about the second quarter.
Notebook PCB maker HannStar Board’s consolidated sales in January declined 21.6% sequentially. The company expects February sales to have 20% sequential growth amid rush orders and increasing demand from notebook customers.
Tripod Technology has seen recovery in various segments. The recovery of the DRAM module segment has been the strongest, followed by TFT LCD, notebook, hard drive and high-density interconnect (HDI) applications.
Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology (TSMT), a supplier of optoelectronics PCBs, saw January sales rise 15.16% sequentially thanks to rush orders for monitor and TV applications. The major customers of TSMT include AU Optronics (AUO) and Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), but orders from CMO have been relatively stronger becasue of the panel maker’s participation in the China government’s program to promote home appliance in rural areas, according to market sources. TSMT estimates sales in February to grow 10% on month.
Flexible PCB (FPCB) maker Flexium Interconnect’s consolidated sales in January declined 16% sequentially, which was better than expected because of orders for LED light bar applications. IMarket observers expect Flexium’s February sales to have 15-20% sequential growth.
