PCB demand for feature phones raising
Taiwan-based PCB makers have seen growing orders from the feature phone segment, signaling overall handset demand in the fourth quarter is likely to return to seasonal patterns, according to sources at the makers.
Feature phone orders from Nokia, LG Electronics (LGE) and Sony Ericsson have been increasing since September 2009, and demand for smartphones remains strong in the second half of the year, driving revenues of handset PCB makers. Handset PCB revenues are expected to grow more than 10% in the fourth quarter, the sources estimated.Unitech Printed Circuit Board and Compeq Manufacturing both indicated their current orders for PCBs for feature phones are relatively stronger than for smartphones.
