Merry’s customers later rejected shipments using Career’s FPCBs, according to market sources

Career said that in April 2008 it filed a lawsuit with a Taiwan court against the Merry Electronics subsidiary because the latter had defaulted in payment of US$1.95 million for its FPCBs.

However, Merry’s subsidiary in April 2009 filed with Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court in southern China to demand compensation of 31.16 million yuan (US$4.56 million) from Career for a claimed defect in the FPCBs, the PCB supplier said.

Both cases are in the process of litigation, according to Career’s filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).

Merry ordered a shipment of FPCBs from Career in 2007, but Merry’s customers later rejected shipments using Career’s FPCBs, according to market sources.

Career claimed its shipments to Merry were bare PCBs that were tested by a third-party certification group who found no defect with the products.

Both Career and Merry said that they currently have no business relationship.
