German PCB Market Still Not Recovering From Financial Crisis

The global economic recession continues be felt in the electronics value chain. For instance, in May, Germany’s PCB market slid 4.2% compared with the previous month, according to VdL and ZVEI. Compared to May last year, revenues this year are down 42% and cumulative sales for the first five months of the year, down 40% against the same period last year.

Incoming orders, however, grew by 16% from April, and book-to-bill ratio went up to 0.98.

The number of employees, on the other hand, continues to decrease. Continuing restructuring efforts in the industry have resulted in an overall workforce reduction of 20% since the beginning of the year.
